Denying bodies of slain to their families a serious issue : Geelani | KNO

Srinagar, June 05 (KNO) : Chairman all parties Hurriyat conference, Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday said that people pursuing right to self-determination are facing worst type of state sponsored terrorism. Expressing his deep concern over human rights violations, Geelani said that unabated killings and brutalities are worst form of state terrorism. Geelani in his appeal to UNO, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Red Cross and international organisations for human rights urged to take cognizance of rights violations and added that people in state are worst sufferers.

Statement said that a deputation called Syed Ali Geelani and briefed him about the latest developments and grim situations people facing in south Kashmir and particularly in Shopian. During their interaction with incarcerated leader, deputation , said that authorities in state are denying to return the dead bodies of youth slain in Tangdaar encounter. Geelani while expressing his deep concern and anguish and said that it is very sensitive issue and a matter of concern for all .The youth were brutally massacred and buried in mysterious circumstances .Geelani said that we feel pain of separation and the demand is quite humanitarian ,however while denying their burial as per religious rites is insensitive and evidently callous .

Syed Ali Geelani while lashing at puppet authorities said that political detainees are subjected to vengeance and ill treatment. Referring to incarcerated leader Masarat Allam Bhat, Geelani condemned the slapping of 36th Public Safety Act (PSA) on Masarat him , saying “It is the worst demonstration of political vendetta”. Syed Ali Geelani said that till now no case dairy was produced and blamed judiciary for their biased approach and snail’s pace proceedings. Referring to prolonged and ‘unlawful’ detention of Masarat Allam, Geelani, said, “Allam is languishing in jail since long, however, it is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities.”

Geelani also expressed his dismay over prolonged and ‘unlawful’ house detention of THJK chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and framing “fake charges” against Syeda Asiya Andrabi and said the freedom movement in state is in no way a crime, instead we are pursuing a fundamental right for all living within territory of Jammu & Kashmir and India has no option but to accept and allow people to decide their political destiny, Geelani said.
